The "Get High On Life Self-Esteem" program, with your personal care and attention, makes the difference and is the vehicle to prepare youth for life from ages 8 to 24Three versions 8 to 13, 14-18 and 18 to 24 are available.

The certification process includes attending the 2-day course Making It Happen! is required along with the "Get High On Life Self-Esteem" trainers binder giving step by step instructions to facilitate the program. We highly recommend those being certified also attend the Move Into Your Greatness training for more in depth experience and advanced skills.

GET HIGH ON LIFE With Self-Esteem Youth Program

  

A program for youth to help them believe in themselves, make choices to be responsible for their own life and to be prepared to make a difference in the world.

  

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

 

This life skills program is designed to give youth ages 8 to 24 a boost in self-esteem, communications, the ability to get along with others, emotion management, getting along with parents and family, positive attitudes, life direction, finding mentors and how to set goals.  The curriculum includes:

 

  • Increase belief in themselves and their abilities for personal success
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills that would include conflict resolution and verbal communication skills
  • Improve attitudes and teach them how attitudes affect the dynamic of a relationship
  • Develop character and how to be a man or woman who makes something of themselves
  • Develop responsibility for everything they think, say, do and feel
  • Value and respect themselves, others, the environment, and their community
  • Learn about and manage their emotions
  • Help them discover who they really are and feel comfortable in their own skin
  • Help them heal the emotional wounds of the past and give them an understanding of how those wounds have held them back and more importantly how to move forward in their lives
  • Help them release the bonds of the past that have held them down so they have a new start
  • Give them an understanding of how their past effects them so they can make new choices under stressful conditions
  • Show them the damaging effects of comparison and judging so they respect who they are in their own uniqueness and allow others the same right
  • Help them discover their specific talents and abilities that have been placed inside of them which makes them unique
  • Teach them the power of words and how to use them to build people up instead of tearing people down
  • How to create their life the way they want it to be and live their dreams
  • Help them understand they have choices and the consequences of the choices they make
  • How to listen to themselves and others
  • Learn how to do problem-solving and decision making
  • How to use time effectively
  • How to overcome obstacles in life

 

GOALS

 

The goal is to build a firm foundation in each person to love themselves enough so that they can love others.  Everything they do in life, including academics, will come out of how they feel about themselves.  The goal is to greatly increase the respect for and honoring of themselves with an understanding of who they were truly made to be.  This will help them determine their purpose in life so they are comfortable with themselves and have life direction.  This will, in turn, open them up to treat others with dignity and respect.

 

All learning is experiential.  We use auditory, visual, sensing and tactile modes.  We include songs, stories and activities.  Through experiences, people learn and recall best, assuring their success is sustained for years and generations.

 

We engage and challenge students with the use of questions and answers, profiles and assessment tools within the program.  We instill hope in each person and show them how to achieve more joy and success in their life.

 

We utilize one-on-one time, discussions with partners, and small group discussions.

 

Once they have a foundation of really FEELING acceptance and respect for themselves, then they can move to respecting everyone else.  Out of this program naturally flows:

  • Increased happiness, passion and engagement in life
  • Increased acceptance, respect and love for themselves and others
  • Increased courage to speak what is true for them and increased connectedness to others
  • Empowering them through the experiential activities
  • Increased integrity
  • Increased curiosity
  • Increased academic success
  • Giving them a passion for lifelong learning because they know how to be successful
  • Increased accountability for their own actions by being responsible for everything they think, say, do and feel
  • Empowering the students to make wise choices
  • Increasing joy, peace and patience
  • Reducing depression
  • Reduced psychosomatic illness
  • Reducing gossip and jealousy
  • Reducing bullying
  • Freedom from trying to get unhealthy attention
  • Reduce alcohol abuse
  • Reduced drug abuse
  • Reduced violence
  • Less suicidal thoughts and reduce the suicide rate
  • Increasing their skill and comfort level with their communication with their parents and peers
  • Improving the relationship with their parents and authority figures
  •  They will see life with new eyes instilling in them a desire to make themselves better each day and helping others to do the same

  

GET HIGH ON LIFE WITH SELF ESTEEM TOPICS

 

This program can be structured:

  • for after school with 1 to 1 1/2 hour sessions lasting six weeks
  • as a program on Saturdays for a full day
  • for two half days on Saturdays for approximately 4 hours each
  • for a summer camp program with one to two hour sessions a day

 

Topics include:

  • Building self-esteem
  • Increasing self-confidence by raising self-esteem
  • Developing positive attitudes
  • Learning to communicate more effectively
  • Conflict resolution
  • Getting along with parents and family
  • Learning coping skills to lower conflict and build trust
  • Managing your emotions
  • Developing study skills
  • Using time more efficiently
  • Finding mentors or resource people who can help you be successful
  • Setting goals and life planning
  • Making goals happen and staying on track

  

MATERIALS

 

Get High on Life includes a trainer’s binder, manuals for each child, plus handouts and other activities.  There are profiles and assessments in the manual for each child, plus a pre and post questionnaire for final evaluation.

 

 

EVALUATIONS

 

Before the program begins, there will be a set of assessment questions and evaluation questions, which determines where each student is at that time.  At the end of the program, another set of assessment questions and evaluation questions will be given.  This will help determine what improvement was made and where.  Teachers may also assess the progress of each student.

 

  

The magazine, Business Week, just came out with an article saying that in these economic times there is a higher toll on divorce, crime, alcohol addiction, drug abuse, depression and suicide.  This program is a highly preventive and foundational program for our youth.
