Understanding Barksdale’s Law of Consciousness Part 2

By admin

Now, the Law of Consciousness.

We know there is beautiful music in the air all around the world. However, a person of the 19th Century, to say nothing of previous centuries, would have scoffed derisively at the possibility of such a “preposterous idea” because of his ignorance of radio and of the natural laws that make it possible. History is full of the persecutions of people like Galileo simply because of other people’s refusal to accept an unfamiliar truth within their realm of understanding. Fortunately, for human progress, there have always been such people as Copernicus, Newton, Marconi and others, who trusted their own concepts and inner convictions, rather than relying solely on the accepted knowledge of the time. They brought forth their dreams into actualities, to the benefit of all humanity.

There is another important natural law, “The Law of Consciousness,” that is just as real as the law of gravity, which though not generally recognized or understood, has a fundamental impact on our individual lives. Used constructively, this Law permits us to make, or remake our lives as we see fit – to be in truth, the masters of our destiny. However, if not provided with conscious, intelligent control, this Law can and does cause all manner of failures, disease and unhappiness. This “Law of Consciousness” simply stated is:

“IT IS DONE TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS OR HER CONSCIOUSNESS”

Consider that this very instant, whether or not we realize our intense feelings and beliefs, all factors of our consciousness are even now inexorably forming our lives, for the truth is the truth, whether we accept it or not. The operation of this law explains the old and puzzling question of, “How come the rich get richer and the poor get poorer?” The operation of this law explains the old and puzzling ideas that challenge us every single day. So, when you think, how come fortune continually smiles on one, and misfortune consistently drags another person down, how come nothings succeeds like success – the answer simply is “a person’s life is the out picturing of their present consciousness.”

Just what is consciousness? Consciousness is your awareness of being the individual entity that is YOU, including the total impingement of society and of your environment. It is the sum total of all your thoughts, feelings, impressions and beliefs. When you think, your consciousness tells you when someone pinches your arm, your consciousness tells you that your arm is a part of your body. When you are aware that you can crush something, you have a consciousness of power and conversely, when you can hardly lift the arm, you have a consciousness of loss of power. You have consciousness of well-being when your physical and emotional reactions are harmonious.

Our consciousness is affirming. This is evidenced when we get up in the morning and are aware of the beautiful day, the songs of the birds, and the joy of living. It is when we anticipate a day filled with pleasant and rewarding experiences, of exhilarating challenge and victory, or growth and satisfying fulfillment – when we have faith in our future and a joyous anticipation of the inherent power of life.

We have unhealthy consciousness we see life much differently. When we arise on an equally fine day and the sunshine and birds do nothing except disturb us, when we dread the unfolding day because we anticipate only unpleasantness and defeat. We are gloomy and depressed. We visualize personal inadequacy and humiliation. We may even have fear of losing our job and the resulting insecurity. In short, when we have no belief in the future or ourselves life generally seems futile and forbidding.

Now an important point is that our consciousness, like the poles of a magnet, can never be neutral. It is either healthy or unhealthy. Thus, if we are unhealthy, we are, per se, unhealthy. Fortunately, we possess the power within ourselves to change our consciousness from sickness to health. In fact, to achieve anything we wish and thus automatically through the Law to achieve whatever objective we may choose. Whatever we can achieve in consciousness of doing or becoming, we actually do or become – regardless of seemingly insurmountable obstacles and handicaps. We have all at some time in our lives, experienced a conviction of winning while playing a competitive game. During such instances, our lives inevitably won because we knew we would win.

• A famous golfer stated that he knows the ball will go into the hole even before it leaves his club. Conversely, we have all lost games we could have won because we are suddenly smitten with a picture and a fear of losing – that is faith in reverse, consciousness of failure.

• World records are constantly broken because a challenger has established a consciousness that they can achieve just that small increment of time or space necessary to beat the current record, then go out and do it. However, a record can only be broken in relatively small increments of time because the challenger’s consciousness is limited to the performance of the last record breaker.

• The hypnotist establishes a consciousness in a person that, though they are supported only at the head and feet, they are so powerful and rigid that three full-grown people can sit or stand on their midsection without bending their body. Thus, their body remains absolutely straight and rigid without evidence of strain.

• Paralyzed people who find themselves under the threat of engulfing fires leapt from their beds and escaped the holocaust by jumping out of windows. In such cases, the urge of self-preservation has erased their consciousness of immobility and sickness and a new consciousness of movement impels them to escape.

• A huge tree struck by lightning, falls and pins a boy to the ground. The boy’s father normally unable to budge such enormous weight is overcome with a consciousness of freeing his son and quickly lifts the tree to free the boy.

Our newspapers frequently report such occurrences. Such is the operation of the Law of Consciousness. We do not have to invoke this Law, however, for it is working constantly – 24 hours a day. Our challenge is simply a matter of learning how to use it constructively and at will. All you need is a clear concept of what you want to accomplish and an understanding within our consciousness that our outcome is not only possible, but that we can actually achieve it. The following system enables us to achieve this required… CONSCIOUSNESS
