Set a positive mindset for the day

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Do you ever wake up and instantly know that your day is going to be a rough one?

It usually happens to me on Mondays or after going through something difficult.  My productivity level for the day is affected from the minute I wake up because of my mindset.  Some days I am not 100% committed to being the best that I can be.  When I have a bad mindset, it affects me physically as well.  I feel slow and sluggish throughout the day.  I find myself anxiously awaiting the end of the day and not giving enough attention to my work and other things.  Unfortunately, a cup of coffee doesn’t fix this for me either.

To avoid such feelings, every morning I set a positive mindset for the day.  In the morning, as I am doing my daily routines, I think to myself how blessed I am.  Instead of dreading the upcoming work day, I accept it and think of ways to maximize my potential and the smoothest way of doing so.  I start by clearing my mind of all distractions.  I then think of all the positive things I have going for me at work and home instead of all the hardships and negative things.  This puts my mind in a state where I am grateful and happy which enables me to stay motivated throughout the day.

Once I have cleared my mind of any negative bearings and replace them with positive ones, I will make a rough draft of my agenda for the day.  Nothing too complex.  Just what I would like to get accomplished for the day.  This allows me to manage my time wisely so I can get everything that needs to be done, done.  This helps me because it smooths my day out.  If I leave enough time to comfortably get my tasks completed and stay motivated, then I don’t have to rush to complete things.  The quality of my overall work improves and so does the way I feel at the end of the day.

So tomorrow morning, as you are having your breakfast, set a positive mindset.  Clear your mind of everything weighing heavy on you and realize that everyday is a blessing.  Replace your negative and worrisome thoughts with positive and productive ones.  Plan your day out and leave yourself enough time to accomplish your goals for the day.  This will slow your day down slightly and won’t have you rushing around as much.  When you start to feel your positive mindset slip away from you throughout the day, take a break and center yourself.  Clear your mind and replace any negative thoughts with positive ones.

I know this is easier said than done.  You need to practice everyday at clearing your mind of anything that binds you and set a positive mindset so it become second nature.  You will see improvements at work and at home.  You will feel more energized throughout the day and will accomplish more as well.

Remember, everyday is a blessing.  Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Reassessing Your Commitments

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Have you made a commitment, either to yourself or someone else, that you haven’t quite lived up to?

We all do it.  Whether it be a New Year’s resolution or a promise to your kids, parents, brother or sister, or friends. We can all take a step back from our busy lives and take a deep look at our commitments or promises we have made to ourselves and our loved ones.

A commitment is a special promise to ourselves or loved ones.  It may be something small like spending more quality time with our significant other, or something big like watching what you eat and get regular exercise to reduce risk of health ailments.  Whatever it may be, we can all put-forth more effort to make these commitments work.

It is extremely easy to say you are committed to something, but the hard part is staying committed.  With the world today being so hectic and fast-paced, it is easy to forget about our most important duties as a spouse, parent, or friend…our commitments.

I want you to ask yourself, “What exactly are my commitments.”  Make a list of your commitments starting with the ones you feel are most important.  Once you have made this list, write down things that you can be doing better to live these out.  Don’t be afraid to discuss them with the other half of the commitment as well.  Everyday try to do one positive thing that will build on each of these commitments.  Once you have done this, you will see relationships improve and overall well-being increase.  So here are the steps to reassessing your commitments…

1. Make a list in level of importance of your commitments.

2. Write down actions you can be doing to better these commitments.

3. Discuss these actions with the other half of the commitment(spouse, child, friend, or yourself).

4. Each day try and do at least one action to improve each of your commitments.
