Letting Go
Posted by: | CommentsOften our past dictates how we feel in the future.
If you have experienced a lot of pain and struggle, you may need to let go of your past. When people have numerous painful memories, it is hard to let go and be optimistic. People will get stuck in the mindset that nothing can go right. When confronted with a situation, people with a painful past will usually think to themselves that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. These people are strong followers of Murphy’s Law. If you often feel this way, you need to change the way you think. See the glass as half full instead of half empty. Until you embrace the positive in life, you will be living a negative lifestyle that will weigh heavy on your emotions.
How are you supposed to live a happy and productive life when you expect the worst?
I was recently talking with someone who had a really hard past. He had gone through a lot and it was understandable for him to expect the worst out of life. I finally got him to replay positive messages in his head when confronted with a situation, instead of negative messages. Before, when a problem surfaced he would immediately think of the negative that could come out of the situation. Now the first thing he thinks about is what positive message can he derive from this situation. He is now happier and more productive since changing the way he handles different situations and confrontations.
Have you had a troubled past?
Is it hard for you to let go of your past?
Do you incorporate your troubled past into making decisions about your future?
Sometimes, we all need to let go of the pain. It does us absolutely no good to hold on to it. We need to replace the constant negative messages with positive ones.
If you let go of the pain, you only make more room for the joy.
How open are you?
Posted by: | CommentsHow open are you to new experiences and to people in general?
Being open to new experiences to some extent is important because you never want to limit yourself. You never know what you will find if you keep an open mind. You could discover new friendships that otherwise would of never existed. Being open to new experiences could bring a new happiness into your life. When you keep an open mind, you learn more through different experiences and you can draw many positive things from them.
Do you tend to not stray from the path?
Sometimes, taking the road less traveled can reveal so much. If we don’t keep an open mind to new experiences and friendships, we are only hurting ourselves. There is so much to be discovered even if we think we have seen it all. The truth is, we haven’t seen it all. We can always continue to grow and learn from our new beginnings.
If you find yourself being closed-minded, then try to open up a little. Maybe step outside of your comfort zone and try something different. Take a salsa dancing class, listen to a new genre of music, or simply be more open to the people around you. Everyone has a story, and there are some great ones out there. I like to take something out of every new situation I am in. If I try something different, I try to learn from it.
So what are some good ways to open up a little bit?
Remember to always stay open, because you never know what you might learn.
Set a positive mindset for the day
Posted by: | CommentsDo you ever wake up and instantly know that your day is going to be a rough one?
It usually happens to me on Mondays or after going through something difficult. My productivity level for the day is affected from the minute I wake up because of my mindset. Some days I am not 100% committed to being the best that I can be. When I have a bad mindset, it affects me physically as well. I feel slow and sluggish throughout the day. I find myself anxiously awaiting the end of the day and not giving enough attention to my work and other things. Unfortunately, a cup of coffee doesn’t fix this for me either.
To avoid such feelings, every morning I set a positive mindset for the day. In the morning, as I am doing my daily routines, I think to myself how blessed I am. Instead of dreading the upcoming work day, I accept it and think of ways to maximize my potential and the smoothest way of doing so. I start by clearing my mind of all distractions. I then think of all the positive things I have going for me at work and home instead of all the hardships and negative things. This puts my mind in a state where I am grateful and happy which enables me to stay motivated throughout the day.
Once I have cleared my mind of any negative bearings and replace them with positive ones, I will make a rough draft of my agenda for the day. Nothing too complex. Just what I would like to get accomplished for the day. This allows me to manage my time wisely so I can get everything that needs to be done, done. This helps me because it smooths my day out. If I leave enough time to comfortably get my tasks completed and stay motivated, then I don’t have to rush to complete things. The quality of my overall work improves and so does the way I feel at the end of the day.
So tomorrow morning, as you are having your breakfast, set a positive mindset. Clear your mind of everything weighing heavy on you and realize that everyday is a blessing. Replace your negative and worrisome thoughts with positive and productive ones. Plan your day out and leave yourself enough time to accomplish your goals for the day. This will slow your day down slightly and won’t have you rushing around as much. When you start to feel your positive mindset slip away from you throughout the day, take a break and center yourself. Clear your mind and replace any negative thoughts with positive ones.
I know this is easier said than done. You need to practice everyday at clearing your mind of anything that binds you and set a positive mindset so it become second nature. You will see improvements at work and at home. You will feel more energized throughout the day and will accomplish more as well.
Remember, everyday is a blessing. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
