Leadership

What qualities make up and effective leader?

There are numerous leadership styles, what works for you?

All leaders want to make a difference and be transformational. Some do and some really don’t. We’ve all known leaders that are easily replaced and forgettable, and hopefully we’ve known some that we can’t imagine doing without.

The difference begins with the bond we create by integrating who we are with what we do. Making a difference has a lot to do with how completely we integrate what we are (our character, values and attitudes) with what we do.

All leaders set direction, give orders, and display competence within their world. But if that’s all they’re doing, they’re expendable. What sets one leader apart from another?  What makes them compelling rather than coercive?  Is the kind of spirit that accompanies their actions a compelling what can I get from them approach or a slave type what can I give them approach. Either way, what makes us take notice is their authenticity or their uniqueness and effectiveness. Are they being themselves or are they trying to be something they’re not?

It is in the visible and tangible world that our unseen inner world is demonstrated. When we integrate our whole being, we create the potential for a deep meaning in our work, trust in those we lead and work with, and we establish our distinctiveness as a leader.

So what type of leader are you?

Anyone can display leadership qualities but it is how you utilize these qualities that makes you an unique and effective leader.  Unique leaders are more captivating and seem more sincere.

We can always improve on our leadership skills and continue to grow.

How do you look at those you love?

When you look at your loved ones, can they sense TUL (total unconditional love)?

You can say a lot, without saying anything at all.  Nonverbal communication is very powerful and noticeable.  If you are the type of person that does not have exceptional nonverbal communication skills, then I suggest working hard on improving them.  The people you spend the most time with (family, friends, etc.) can pick up on negative nonverbal communication easily because they know you so well.  That is why it is important to always practice positive nonverbal communication, even if you are having a bad day.

Looking at your loved ones with TUL can drastically improve their spirits and let them know that you truly love them.  Be attentive when others are speaking, and even if you are not, seem genuinely interested.  Look at your loved ones with passion and sincerity.  Don’t let a bad day at the office carry over into your personal life.  If you come home and are in a bad mood and don’t want to talk to your family, they feel like it is something they did wrong.  Try to leave all thoughts of negativity and worries at the office or wherever their origins may be.

Just simply looking at your loved ones with TUL can strengthen your relationships and bring you more peace of mind.  If you put yourself in a good mood, others will feed off of it and be in a good mood as well.

Put forth the effort to always send positive nonverbal communication signals to the ones you love, and everyone will benefit.

Practice TUL everyday!

Don’t Give up on Your Dreams

Posted by: | Comments (0)

What are your dreams in life?

What did you want to be when you were younger?

Did you ever want to travel to an exotic land or learn a new trade but never did?

As we grow older in life, we tend to stop chasing our dreams.

We tell ourselves, “It’s too late”, but it’s not too late to continue to chase your dreams.  We are entitled as Americans to chase every dream we possess.  Even if you think you are too old to follow your dreams and the chance has passed you by, keep dreaming.  Whatever your dream may be, stay determined and inspired to make your dream a reality.

I was recently talking with someone who never shared his dreams with his family and friends.  He said he felt silly and irresponsible to be a mature adult and have a semi far fetched dream.  He wanted to get his pilot license.  Apparently as a kid, his Grandpa used to fly small planes and would take him up on flights.  He knew the basics of aviation but never pursued anything further.  He never told anyone this dream and kept it to himself.

I told him you should never stop pursuing your dreams.  Having a dream is a major factor in being happy.  A dream is something personal that may not mean a lot to other people, but means the world to you.  This is the beauty of having a dream.  It gives us a goal to work towards and the end result is happiness and enjoyment.

People can take time or money away from you, but they can never take your dreams away.  No matter how big or small your dream is, never give up.
