Inspiring Responsibility in the Workplace

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Getting FOUR employees to do the work of ONE is one of the easiest management jobs available, and one of the most common.

No!  That was not a typo…..Personal productivity is one of the most mismanaged areas within most organizations.  Not because employees want to work at less than their capabilities, because THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RESULTS….YOU ARE!

If you have employees that are working at 20% of their personal capacity, and you have accepted that as standard, then you are hiring at that standard.  Because you are accepting less, less is happening…YOU ARE AFFECTING YOUR CASH FLOW!

Here is a quick Responsibility Audit.  Let’s see how you do.

1)       Customers openly brag about your companym
2)       Company annual income growth of 20%+
3)       Weekly suggestions for improved profit
4)       Your employee is more important than a customer
5)       People are standing in line to work for you

Two or more “no” answers mean you have a problem with employees taking responsibility.

SO WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Is it the way we lead?  Is it the way we deal with shortcomings?  On the other hand, do we treat our employees like children?

Through all of our years of experience in working with all types of businesses and organizations, we have come to recognize a consistency of cause and effect with regard to employees not taking responsibility.

Self Esteem and Behavioral Style

What is it about some behavior that just sets you off?  Who really listens to you and gives you recognition?  How do you deal with challenging behaviors that friends or relatives display?  Why can’t people just let you be–so you can get things straight?  Do you ever find yourself frustrated and don’t know what is bothering you?

We can begin to understand behavioral styles in people using an instrument called the Personal Profile.  This profile is a self-administered, self- developing instrument.  It was created by Dr. John G. Geier as a result of studying the works of William Moulton Marston.

So what does behavioral style and self-esteem have to do with each other?  Research shows that self-esteem is the bottom line because self-esteem is the self-respect you feel for yourself.

We were all born with intact self-esteem and then it slowly erodes with comments like “You know better than that!”  “NO!”  “Stupid,” etc.  As a result of these and similar nibbles, we gradually began looking toward others for recognition and approval.  We let others decide what our needs were and how to meet them.

How do we inspire ourselves to greatness?

Posted by: Bill | Comments (0)

How do we inspire ourselves to greatness when nothing else will do?

Have you seen the movie Invictus?  If you have not I encourage you to go right away if you are a person looking for inspiration toward your own and loftier goals for your community and the world.

Some may say the story line is too simple, yet that simplicity is what makes it so powerful.

Do you have visions of dreams and goals not yet fulfilled?  Do you seek a higher place in life then you are right now?  Then I challenge you like the movies does to get past your past and reasons you can’t and just go out there this day and year and make the impossible - possible.

Choose the other rode less traveled without fear or disruption from your intent and experience an exhilaration that will remove the doubt and replace it with new vigor and vitality toward your ambitions.

This is a time when we need new leaders with fresh ideas to come beyond the ordinary and choose the extraordinary.  If you are one of those people blog me letting me know your ideas for action.  Allow yourself  to move into your greatness and unlock the doors to new opportunities inspired by your optimism causing your ne sayer’s to be humbled with vitalized energy for a new fresh start.

Yes, you are the only person who can flip that  switch that ignites the fuel for action on your road to your destiny.  Get started now and let’s do something bodacious.
